Smart Sense Viscosity System

Viscosity Measurement by Rivertrace Engineering

Rivertrace Engineering have developed a Viscosity Control System for Heavy Fuel Oil & Marine Distillate applications. The technique used in the SMART Sense sets it apart from other viscometer’s as it incorporates an improved method of using the vibrating rod at resonance frequency.

The technique is Electro Magnetic which is far more robust than other piezo electric methods. Through this new principle it is now possible to measure accurately viscosity and temperature without frequent calibration or maintenance.

The SMART Sense Viscosity System is designed for full flow, inline installation in Heavy Fuel Oil and Marine Distillate applications allowing for improved accuracy at lower viscosity when switching between HFO and Marine Distillate.

Smart Cell Bilge Alarm

Rivertrace Smart-Cell 15ppm Oily Water Seperator Bilge Alarm Monitor

IMO Resolution MEPC 107 (49) came into effect on 1st January 2005 and applies to all new installations of oil content monitors within engine room spaces. This applies to existing ships and ships whose keel is laid on or after 1st January 2005.

The Rivertrace "Smart-Cell" Bilge Alarm meets the requirements of MEPC 107 (49) for monitoring of 3 oil types: Fuel Oil, Diesel and Emulsions. By utilising the "Smart-Cell" Detector Array Technology, technology developed by Rivertrace, the Bilge Alarm analyses all three oil types simultaneously without the need for re-calibration.

A manual cell clean device is included as standard to easily enable routine maintenance. Optical cell fouling is recognised as a leading cause of monitor malfunction or incorrect reading. By simple operation of the manual clean device, the "Smart-Cell" remains in optimum operating condition.

Smart ODME

Rivertrace Smart ODME

The Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment (Smart ODME) has been designed to provide means of monitoring, recording and controlling the ballast discharge in accordance with the requirements of MEPC 108(49). Discharge limits are set at 30 Litres per nautical mile and a total discharge expressed as a proportion of the previous cargo for dirty ballast.

The requirements of the MARPOL Convention are that all oil tankers with a gross tonnage of 150 GRT and above must have an oil discharge monitoring and control system installed, incorporating an approved oil content meter, with a starting interlock and an automatic overboard valve control system. The Smart ODME includes all components required to meet MEPC 108(49) and is designed for ease of installation and maintenance.

The requirements in IMO Resolution MEPC 108(49) apply to tankers with a date of keel laying or equivalent stage of construction of 1st of January 2005 or later.

Smartsafe Bilge Overboard Security System

Rivertrace SmartSafe Bilge Overboard Security System

The SmartSafe Bilge Overboard Security System has been developed out of repeated industry requests to provide a failsafe method of prevention against illegal oil discharge to sea. Illegal discharges involving “Magic Pipes” and ‘Empty’ Oily Water Separators are seen as a major contributor to pollution of the seas and vessels are under increasing scrutiny by Port State Control (PSC) Surveyors globally. The system is primarily designed to prevent illegal oily water discharge to sea and will record if one has taken place.

  • - Demonstrate Marpol Compliance
  • - Cost Effective Prevention of illegal discharge
  • - Easy installation ‘plug n play’, low maintenance
  • - Capable of recording other miscellaneous ships data
  • - Compatible with all IMO Resolutions:-
  •       MEPC 107 (49)
  •       MEPC 60 (33)
  •       A393X
  • - Shore based event reports
